Justin Leader

Founder, Foundation for Jira

Justin Leader is the founder of Foundation, a Forge-native portfolio management app for Jira Cloud. He writes the editorial and technical content on foundationforjira.com and authors the open-source research that anchors Foundation's comparisons of Jira PPM apps.

About

Justin is a solo founder based in the United States and the person behind HumanR (Human Renaissance Corporation), the entity that publishes Foundation on the Atlassian Marketplace. He has spent years working with Jira as an admin, a program manager, and a builder — wrestling the same cross-project visibility problems that Foundation now solves. Foundation started in 2025 as an attempt to replace the aging ecosystem of Connect-era PPM plugins with something genuinely Forge-native: fast, secure, and priced honestly. Justin writes every page of foundationforjira.com personally, runs the beta program, and replies to every support email. Foundation is launching on the Atlassian Marketplace in 2026. Until then, he is publishing deep technical research on Jira PPM, portfolio management methodology, and the Forge platform itself as the product matures in public.

How I write about Jira apps

I'm the maker of Foundation, so every comparison on this site is written by a direct competitor. I handle that the way I'd want someone to handle it if the roles were reversed: I link to the other app's Marketplace listing and documentation, I credit features that genuinely do things Foundation doesn't (yet), and I say so when a competitor is the right choice for a given team. Claims about pricing, install counts, and platform differences cite public sources. If you find an inaccuracy, email me at [email protected] and I'll fix it or pull the page.
