Add & hide columns
Every lens opens with a sensible default set of columns — Summary, Status, Assignee, Priority, and a few more. The Column Picker lets you add any Jira field (including custom fields) as a column, or hide columns you don’t need.
Column choices are saved per view, so each view in a lens can show a different column set.
Open the Column Picker
Section titled “Open the Column Picker”- In the toolbar above the grid, click Columns.
- A dropdown opens with two sections:
- Active columns — what’s currently in the grid.
- Available columns — everything you can add, grouped by type.
- Type in the search box at the top to filter the list quickly.
Add a column
Section titled “Add a column”- In the Column Picker, find the field you want — use search or scroll through the categories.
- Check the box next to the field name.
- The column appears on the right side of the grid. Close the dropdown and drag the header if you want it elsewhere.
Custom fields appear in their own section, pulled live from your Jira site. Foundation detects their type (select, date, user, URL, etc.) automatically and gives each one the right renderer and editor.
Hide a column
Section titled “Hide a column”There are two ways:
- From the Column Picker — uncheck the field.
- From the column header — click the three-dot menu on any column and choose Hide column.
Hidden columns aren’t deleted — they stay available in the picker and in the view config, so you can re-enable them at any time.
Save the change
Section titled “Save the change”Column changes aren’t saved permanently until you save them to a view.
- Make your column changes.
- In the toolbar, click the Views dropdown.
- Pick Save current view (updates the active view) or Save as new… (creates a new view).
If you switch views without saving, your unsaved column changes are discarded.
