Status & transitions
The Status column doesn’t let you pick any status — it offers the transitions Jira allows from the issue’s current state. This respects workflow rules, validators, and conditions, so every change you make in Foundation is one Jira would accept.
Change a status
Section titled “Change a status”- Click the Status cell of the row you want to move.
- A dropdown opens showing every transition available from the current state. For example, from In Progress, you might see In Review and Done.
- Pick the target status.
- The transition runs immediately. The lozenge color updates in place as Jira confirms the change.
If the workflow is set up so a transition goes to a single status, that status appears as the menu label. If several transitions can reach the same status (with different side effects), they all appear as separate options — Jira decides the behavior.
Why can’t I see the status I want?
Section titled “Why can’t I see the status I want?”The dropdown is driven entirely by Jira’s workflow for that issue. If a status isn’t listed, one of these is true:
- There’s no transition from the current state to that status.
- The transition has a condition that blocks you (for example, “only the assignee can resolve”).
- The transition has a validator that requires a missing field (resolution, fix version, etc.). Foundation can’t fill those in inline — resolve them on the issue in Jira first.
Workflow screens
Section titled “Workflow screens”If a transition has a transition screen (fields Jira asks for before the move), Foundation currently can’t fill them in from the grid. You’ll see a toast directing you to transition the issue in Jira. This is a Jira platform constraint, not a Foundation limitation.
Animated feedback
Section titled “Animated feedback”When a status changes, the lozenge briefly highlights and then settles into the new category color (red for To Do, blue for In Progress, green for Done). This visual feedback confirms the write reached Jira.
