Import Hub overview

The Import Hub is the single entry point for pulling data into Foundation. Open it whenever you want to seed a new lens from an existing source — a Jira project, a spreadsheet, or an export from another portfolio tool.

  1. From Foundation Home, click the Import button in the top-right header.
  2. You’ll land on a card grid listing every supported import path.
  3. Click any enabled card to launch the matching wizard. Click the back arrow to return to the hub.

The hub groups imports into four categories:

  • Import from Jira project — pull every issue under one or more Jira projects into a new lens.
  • Import from CSV or Excel — upload a spreadsheet and map columns to Foundation fields. Available from inside a lens.
  • Import from Structure — migrate an existing hierarchy from the Structure for Jira Cloud app.
  • Import from BigPicture — migrate boards from the BigPicture PPM Cloud app.
  • Import DC Export — load a JSON file produced by the Foundation Data Center Extractor, for customers moving from Jira Data Center.

Each wizard walks you through connecting to the source, previewing what will be imported, and confirming before anything is written.

  • A new lens (or set of lenses) is created with you as the owner.
  • If the source contained a hierarchy, Foundation rebuilds it as parent-child rows.
  • For Jira project imports, a Sync Agent is created so new issues continue to flow into the lens automatically.
  • You can re-run, edit, or delete any of the generated agents from the lens toolbar.
  • Starting from a Jira project you already run? Use Import from Jira project.
  • Coming from a spreadsheet-tracked roadmap? Use CSV import.
  • Migrating away from a competitor app? Use the matching Structure or BigPicture flow to preserve hierarchy, views, and generators where possible.
