Grant access

Granting access to a lens is how you bring teammates into a portfolio you own. Use the Share dialog whenever you want someone else to view, edit, or co-own a lens.

You need Control on the lens to grant access. Owners always have Control.

  1. Open the lens.
  2. Click Share in the toolbar (or the share icon on a Foundation Home lens card).
  3. The Share dialog shows current permissions at the top and a search field at the bottom.
  1. Make sure the picker is in Users mode.
  2. Start typing a name or email. Foundation searches every Atlassian user on your site.
  3. Click a result to select it.
  4. Choose a permission level from the dropdown: View, Edit, Edit generators, or Control.
  5. Click Add.

The new grant appears in the permissions list immediately.

  1. Switch the picker to Groups mode.
  2. Type a group name — Jira group names, not display names.
  3. Click the group, pick a level, click Add.

Every current and future member of that group inherits the level. A user who belongs to multiple groups grants keeps the highest level any single grant confers.

  1. Switch the picker to Roles mode.
  2. Pick a Jira project role (for example, Administrators, Developers).
  3. Choose the level and click Add.

Role grants resolve at check time against every project the user participates in.

  • Click the level badge next to any grant to change it.
  • Use the Remove action on a grant to revoke it entirely (see Revoke access).
  1. In the Share dialog, click Transfer ownership.
  2. Search for the new owner and confirm.
  3. The new owner gets implicit Control. You keep your previous grant or can change it after transfer.
  • Grant View by default and upgrade individuals who need to edit. It’s easier to widen access than to claw it back.
  • Prefer groups over individuals when the team composition changes regularly.
  • Remember that lens access still requires Jira BROWSE on the underlying issues — see Jira permission interplay.
